Louisiana Startup Prize 2016 Launches: The Most Amazing Entrepreneurial Competition on the Planet

After a Record-Breaking 2015, Nationally-Unique Business Education and Networking Program Starts Its Third Year

SHREVEPORT, LA – The Louisiana Startup Prize launched year three to a packed house of anxious entrepreneurs, business leaders and investors at Rhino Coffee. Team Startup Prize joined Gregory Kallenberg, Founder and Executive Director of Louisiana Startup Prize to ring the ceremonial bell and open up registration for “The Most Amazing Entrepreneurial Competition on the Planet.”

After an incredibly successful second year, Kallenberg announced that they are adding more national investors to the Investor Judge group and will be bringing in some special keynotes to speak at the Startup Prize 2016 Qualifying Events. Louisiana Startup Prize 2015 shattered records within the 82 startups participating in the competition. Out of those 82 startups, 38% were female representatives and 31% were minority business owners.

“We were incredibly proud of the diversity and the level of our entrepreneurs and startups,” said Kallenberg. “This year, we hope to attract even more startups and help them evolve and grow and, eventually, connect them with investor dollars.”

The Louisiana Startup Prize is open to all entrepreneurs from all over the country and will consist of two Qualifying Events (April 29 – May 1 and June 10-12) to be held in Shreveport. Each startup will be required to attend at least one weekend-long qualifier to be eligible for the Grand Prize. Qualifying Events cost $50 each to attend.

About the Startup Prize

The Louisiana Startup Prize (lastartupprize.com) is an incredibly unique concept that energizes and incentivizes local, regional and national entrepreneurs of all races, genders, and socio-economic levels. The Startup Prize’s goal is to evolve businesses through a series of educational events (called “Qualifying Events”), and then connect them with potential investors. The Qualifying Events are staffed with business mentors, gurus and essential resources for a startup. In the end, the Startup Prize wants to help build an entrepreneurial culture in northwest Louisiana.

The Louisiana Startup Prize is one of the largest entrepreneurial gatherings in North Louisiana. The entrepreneurs will ultimately be competing for the Grand Prize of $25,000 cash and over $45,000 of in-kind services. The Startup Prize 2015 is already gaining even more local and national partnerships, offering deeper educational and networking opportunities to help usher in a new age of entrepreneurship.
